Jewel Cases Discs supplied in jewel cases are individually packed in clear hard plastic cases (as you would buy prerecorded CDs). Each jewel case consist of the basic case, into which the booklet/cover slots) and a tray that clips into the case between which the trayliner sheet sits.
Slimcases These are a half the thickness of a jewel case and again house a single disc. There is no tray, so no trayliner sheet can be used, just the booklet/cover sheet.
Video Case These are similar to the standard black case you get when you buy/rent a DVD. They are the size of a thin paperback book and (in this instance) house just one disc. A cover sheet can be inserted under the clear plastic that surrounds the case.
Cakebox A cakebox is a two part plastic case designed to hold a number of discs, in this case 25, 50 or 100. The discs sit on a rod that is attached to the base of the cakebox and a removable plastic cover sits over and secures them giving rise to the term cakebox.
Spindle In the case of TDK discs, this is simply a stack of discs that have been shrink-wrapped together in quantities of 100 (sometimes 150).
